Only a short 15-minute drive from Mareeba, Emerald Creek Falls is a stunning natural escape where cool mountain waters flow over smooth granite boulders into clear swimming holes. A gentle walking trail of about 1.9 km return winds alongside the creek, passing a series of cascades and natural pools before leading to viewing points. Take your time exploring the shaded track, dipping your toes in the water, or heading right up to the lookout for sweeping views across the valley towards Mareeba. Along the way, there are plenty of picture-perfect stops for a swim or a rest on the rocks.
Getting There: Access is via the Kennedy Highway. The final stretch of road is unsealed and best suited to cars without caravans or trailers.
Facilities: A designated day-use area offers spots for picnicking, but camping is not permitted at Emerald Creek Falls.
